About
The inspiration for this painting began with Ancient Egypt. I cannot fully explain why, but that civilization has always fascinated me. For years, I have been drawn to archaeology documentaries about it, as well as to the mystery, symbolism, and visual richness of that world. I began this piece with Ancient Egypt in mind, starting from a circular form that suggested the sun, an image deeply associated with its landscape and culture. As the work developed, however, that sun gradually transformed into something more like an advanced artifact. Over time, the concept expanded and began to resonate with other ancient civilizations as well, especially the Maya, Mesopotamia, and Aztec cultures. The artwork unfolded intuitively, as forms and shapes emerged and connected across the surface.
Process
I developed this painting through a slow process of layering and accumulation. I added forms sequentially, allowing each color layer to settle before introducing the next, so that the composition could build gradually and gain a sense of depth. I worked intuitively, letting the shapes evolve through repetition and variation, guided more by rhythm and balance than by any fixed plan. As the painting grew denser, relationships between forms began to emerge, revealing a subtle sense of order within the complexity. The piece is varnished and signed.
